Summer FAQ's

WITH COVID-19, ARE THESE INTENSIVES STILL GOING AHEAD?

Assuming that academic schools (in the UK) re-open before August, our intensives will be running. We are still busy preparing an incredible lineup of teachers, under the assumption that we are going ahead. 

If we are unable to run these courses in August due to Covid-19, all performers will receive immediate refunds.

 

AM I SUITABLE FOR THIS INTENSIVE?

Our intensives are designed for performers with a genuine passion for performing arts and previous training/experience in this field. Attendees are streamed into groups based on age and experience level, meaning there's something for a range of abilities, all the way up to experienced West End performers. Whether you're looking to follow a career in the industry or just want to train in a more serious setting, Spirit YPC is designed for performers who are hard-working, dedicated and have a real passion for the industry. 

 

I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE UK. CAN I STILL ATTEND?

Absolutely! Our Summer Intensives attract lots of performers from across seas. We do not currently offer any boarding options but if you are able to sort out accomodation, we'd be delighted to have you onboard. 

 

WILL I APPEAR ON YOUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL / SOCIAL MEDIA?

Some of our intensives involve a professionally filmed end product, others involve a live showcase. Best to read the detail of each individual workshop carefully! In any case, we are always filming our training and rehearsal processes for release on social media, so attendees will need to be happy with being captured on film/in photographs.

 

I'D LIKE TO APPLY FOR THE 'AUDITION ENTRY 'COURSE. IF I BOOK AND PAY FOR ANOTHER COURSE, CAN I TRANSFER THAT MONEY OVER SHOULD I BE ACCEPTEED?

Yes. If book for one of our open courses but then receive a place on our medley course, the fee for the booked course can be transferred over if you wish.

 

I AM APPLYING FOR THE 'AUDITION ENTRY' COURSE. DO I NEED TO SIGN UP AND PAY ONLINE FIRST?

No. You do not need to do anything online; just send your self-tape to mt@spiritypc.com. Only if you are accepted will we ask for you to sign up online. Your self-tape should include a brief introduction (most importantly, your name and age) and show you singing a verse and chorus of a song of your choice.

 

I AM APPLYING FOR THE 'AUDITION ENTRY' COURSE. WHEN SHOULD I EXPECT TO HEAR BACK?

We will be reviewing applications at the end of each month, so you can expect a response at the beginning of the following month. For example, if you submit in April you can expect a response in the first week of May. 

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR / PREPARE / BRING TO THE INTESIVES?

Bring a packed lunch each day and lots of water - you will be working hard. Performers should wear clothing that is suitable for dance and have hair off faces. If you are a strong dancer likely to be streamed into a high-ability dance group, we recommend bringing jazz shoes, trainers and foot thongs. There is nothing to prepare in advance; all material will be taught in the workshop.

 

WHAT ARE THE TIMINGS?

Our intensives run from 11am-4pm each day. At the moment we do not offer after-care.

 

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN MY CLASS?

We limit the classes to no more than 25 students in one group. This gives our faculty the chance to provide 1 on 1, individual feedback.

 

CAN I LEAVE THE BUILDING DURING LUNCH BREAKS?

Only performers who are 18+, or otherwise have the written permission from a parent/guardian, will be enabled to leave the premesis during lunch breaks.
